World Youth Skills Day – Government Technical Colleges in Honor of WYSD; The Skills Competition and Innovation Award Competition of Government Industrial Science and Government Technical High Schools and Innovation Award Ceremony was held at 9 am today, 15.7.2019 at Government Industrial Science (Insein) Main Assembly Hall.

The theme of World Youth Skills Day 2019 is “Learning to learn for life and work” and “Let’s learn skills to improve life and career”. There are more than 50 countries with UNESCO-UNEVOC Center in the world, and Myanmar opened in November 2018 at Government Industrial Science (Insein). The opening of the UNESCO-UNEVOC Center will be more conducive to technical and vocational education and training activities, and will be able to cooperate with other countries in the region that have a UNESCO-UNEVOC Center in accordance with the basic principles of the UNEVOC Network. Capacity building programs and experience sharing programs will be made.

Today, 1.2 billion people in the world are young people aged 15 to 24, accounting for 16% of the world’s population. Participating in the implementation of the aspirations of young people for sustainable and balanced development results in the areas of climate change; Unemployment; Poverty Gender segregation; Conflict; It will be able to meet the challenges of migration and achieve inclusive, sustainable and balanced development. However, today’s youth unemployment rate is almost three times higher than that of adults. Large labor market inequality; Weak support from school to work will continue to occur.

The Skills Competition and Innovation Award Competition will be held from July 15 to 16 for two days. A total of 134 students from 9 government technical colleges and 4 government technical high schools participated in the Innovation Award competition with 104 students.
